Ellen's Dog Adoption Crisis with Mutts and Moms

This opinion sent in by one of our readers.

From a personal stand point it is a truely sad and emotional event that Ellen's (Ellen Degeneres - talk show host)dog Iggy was removed from her hairdresser's home. Iggy just taken by Mutts and Moms, a pet rescue adoption business, from these young girls who have started to bond this this dog.

At the same time Mutts and Moms, like any other Pet Rescue Adoption agency, has rules and policies concerning the adoption of their animals. Many of these rules and policies will be governed by local, state, and /or federal laws pertaining to animals, rescue, and pet adoption.

As this case did not happen specifically to me, Mutts and Moms rules seem just fine. They probably seemed just fine to Ellen too before Mutts and Moms policy of not being able to care for the animal no more directly affected her.

Concerning this, Ellen said "We're not trying to be anything other than a regular person trying to adopt a dog." It's just too bad that me, as a regular person, does not have a tv talk show to express my disagreement with the decisions and actions of the Pet Adoption service for my violation of the terms of my pet adoption. I'm sorry Ellen, but us regular people would have just gotten the normal response in this case - we are sorry, but you violated the adoption agreement between us and the dog needs to be returned to us.

On the Ellen Degeneres Show, Ellen said "Well, I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can't keep Iggy it goes back to the rescue organization,". She also said she neglected to fully read the agreement. Well, I wonder if that will work with my home mortgage agreement. I'm sorry Mr./Mrs Bank, but since I just signed and didn't read our mortgage agreement I think I'll just give my house to my neighbor and I owe you nothing. After all I'm me and I feel I'm doing the right thing by giving it to my neighbor.

Rules and policies are made for a reason. So that everyone is equal as possible when it comes to whatever the rule or policy applies to. As every rule and policy will vary by the organization implementing it, I may or may not agree. If I don't agree with Mutts and Moms adoption policies then I just need to go down the street to the next pet rescue adoption service and find one that has policies I agree with.

Ellen Degeneres is a claimed animal lover. To 'save' this one dog and get here own way she's using her televison show to literally destroy a pet adoption service that helps how many animals a year???.

Lets put the Mutts and Moms adoption service out of business over one dog and leave the hundreds of animals a year they help to wander the streets. This seems like a good choice. As long as Ellen is happy. Remember she's Ellen and she just did what she thought was the right thing to do.

If Ellen had to fill out an application for adoption then what makes the hairdresser feel they are exempt from filling out an adoption application?

I don't see what Ellen did wrong. she gave her dog to someone she felt was responsible to care for it.
Just hope Iggy is safe in this whole ordeal.

I think it should NOT have been a problem for the family to fill out the needed paper work in order to keep the dog,The pound probably saved the dog from an abusive or neglectful home and it is THEIR responsibility to ensure the dog goes to a good home. Would you use your backround check to clear giving someone eles a gun that refused to use their own backround check?

Does Ellen feel she has the right to bend the rules to her favor, while the general public obeys the rules???? Cry on T.V. to get her fans support? Dose this work for anyone eles?

I love ellen and I don't feel she did anything wrong. It's her Constitutional right.

All Mutts & Moms did was enforce one of their rules.

IT'S NOT LIKE THE PET ADOPTION PLACE COULDN'T HAVE RUN A CHECK ON THE FAMILY AND LET THEM KEEP THE DOG BASED ON THEIR FINDINGS. TO TAKE THE DOG WITHOUT ANY INVESTIGATION IS SIMPLY RIDICULOUS.
ALSO, ELLEN COULD HAVE LIED AND THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN THE WISER. BUT THOSE TWO LITTLE GIRLS PAID FOR ELLEN'S HONESTY. WHICH GOES TO SHOW YOU THIS AGENCY IS NOT ABOUT HELPING ANIMALS FIRST BUT BEING IN CONTROL.
