Hey AWANA Directors and Leaders. Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner following the training. It has been a busy week. I don't know about ya'll, but I learned a lot from that training. One point from the training that we cannot take serious enough is the focus on sharing the Gospel with the Children. I have to admit, this is a little intimidating to me and I have a lot to learn! I am going to be getting with Amy and Pastor Clint to see if there is some training on how to do this that we could have on Wednesday nights or maybe on another Saturday. I have been reading Rock Solid Kids and am realizing there is much more to it than I ever imagined (I am done reading it by the way if anyone would like to borrow it).
There were several things from the training that I would like to follow-up on as a group and really just want to meet one more time before the program starts. It will be in the bulletin this week (I hope) to meet on 8/28 at 4pm. I hope you all can make it.
We should have flyers ready soon. They will be flyers for the Children's Ministry as a whole and will have a section on AWANA and the "Hillbilly Games." For those of you interested, we will have them available to take out to the community. Amy will have more information on this in the near future. I hope you will be able to find the time to pass these out in your neighborhoods, when you are at the park, or even just have a few to give to some people at work.
Shirts, shirts, shirts... We will all need shirts this year. I would expect that all AWANA leaders, directors and commanders wear their shirts every week. It will give the kids an easy identification of who to go to. Given that, I realize that several of you do not have shirts or have worn out shirts. If you do not have one, please let me know your size and what club you will be working with. I need to get this information soon.
I don't know about ya'll, but I am getting excited!
