As the 10th memorial of September 11th approaches, it is important to honor the memories of the 184 people who died in the attack on the Pentagon, the 40 innocent lives lost in Pennsylvania, and the 2,753 victims who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Through our remembrance, we honor the 343 firefighters, the 60 New York City and Port Authority Police Officers and the 8 private emergency medical technicians and paramedics who put the safety of others before their own. We salute the brave individuals who have fought to preserve the freedoms who hold so dear, especially those who enlisted after the 9/11 attacks.

As a special tribute, we would like to feature your memories of that day. Please send us, in 250 words or less, what you were doing that day and how the attacks affected you. Email your thoughts to We will post them on our blog .

Warm regards,
Debbie Gregory, CEO

A Most Precious Gift

Sgt. Jacob Chadwick

One Marine’s Life Saves Another

Earlier this year, we told you about Marine Corps Sgt. Jacob Chadwick , who was in desperate need of a new kidney. Although bittersweet, we are happy to report that Chadwick has received a new kidney, thanks to the kindness and generosity of another military family. 2nd Lt. Patrick Wayland, a fellow Marine, suffered heart failure on August 1st during survival training at Florida's Pensacola Naval Air Station. He died August 6th. Wayland's family asked his doctors to find military recipients for their son's organs. Chadwick, a former Camp Pendleton infantryman, will be medically retired from the Marine Corps on September 29th and has no immediate plans other than to honor Wayland's donation and be a good father and husband. In addition to the gift given to Chadwick, five additional servicemembers received organ donations from Wayland. Our thoughts go out to his family.

Important Lifeline

Suicude Prevention Hotline

As more and more men and women in uniform return from Iraq and Afghanistan, there is an increasing need for mental health care. The VA is reaching out to Veterans in crisis and their families to raise awareness about suicide prevention resources, such as the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). The PSA encourages Veterans in crisis to call the crisis hotline number at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to reach a trained VA mental health professional, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An online Veterans Chat program, which provides the ability to communicate anonymously online in real-time with a trained VA mental health professional, can be accessed through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s web page

Now there's a free new tool from the FBI that can help. The Child ID app —the first mobile application created by the FBI—provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your children so that it’s literally right at hand if you need it. You can show the pictures and provide physical identifiers such as height and weight to security or police officers on the spot. Using a special tab on the app, you can also quickly and easily e-mail the information to authorities with a few clicks.

The app also includes tips on keeping children safe as well as specific guidance on what to do in those first few crucial hours after a child goes missing.

Welcome Home from Afghanistan

We are happy to report that our friend, Bob Calvert, has returned safely returned home from his latest trip to Iraq and Afghanistan. Here is Bob’s message:

"I have been back in Iraq and Afghanistan with the troops recording our troops progress and positive stories in their own words and filming missions I go on with them. They want to see their mostly unheard stories get out to millions. Most Americans are not hearing much if anything like what we are bringing back on video."

You can access the videos here . Anyone who supports our troops can take the videos and share them on their own YouTube and Facebook pages. Help our Troops get their stories out across America.

Helping Service-Disabled Veterans

Wall Street Warfighters Foundation

Wall Street Warfighters Foundation grew from the idea that given the opportunity, service-disabled veterans will excel in a work environment where integrity and moral courage are valued and where their physical challenges are not a factor. The mission of Wall Street Warfighters Foundation is to identify, develop, and place service disabled veterans in careers in the financial services industry.

Based in Philadelphia, the program is a six month in-residence course which includes class work, field work, exam preparation and testing, mentorship, and internships, all designed to expose these veterans to the broader aspects of the financial services industry, and to help them gain access to rewarding careers.
